Without body mount couplers, there's no way around it.  Even with body mounts, you would need a coupler that was off-set quite a bit and even then the top of the coupler box would probably stick out above the floor of the car (more than it already does on the prototype).

What I find interesting out of all this is the paint lines on the lot. They are at a 45 degree angle to the tracks....

A fairly rare prototype, yet there is an existing N-scale model of the car from ExactRail.  It was actually their first offering to the N-scale market.

Anybody know if the doors are operable on this model?

Doubt it, no visible hinge mechanism.  Now a razor saw and a little TRW magic...

Not operable and one of the poorest running cars I have ever seen. I had a customer give me one because he was so fed up with it. He bet me I couldn't get it to run and that it would end up in the trash. It's not in the trash but it is low on the priority list after tinkering around with it a bit. I'm going to have to be really bored to want to take the time to get this thing going. It is about the same quality as a Con-cor autorack, and at least those will roll around the layout.

Luckily, if one was to build the diorama of the loading/unloading process it wouldn't have to move :)

I think that's what happened to all of the leftover Vegas: They put them in these and then sealed them up without a hinge to open them again. :D
