I see Kato is coming out with the F3 in a later version. (No chicken wire). How close would these be to the F5's or the F3's the Northern Pacific had? How about the Milwaukee Road's F3's?

Doh! That's actually the correct body for the D&RGW F3s, rather than the one they used years ago, and which I own, with the chicken wire grills.

Kato model is a "
Late War Bonnet
" F3. NOT a late F3.
The Kato model still has the high shroud fans which was the first change is the F series (starting with Ph. II). A late F3 or F5 will have low fans.
If the Dynamic Brake is still the vent style of the F3 (it's not shown on the artwork), then the only change needed would be the fans to get an late F3/F5.
