Detail Parts Search

Happy Thanksgiving!

Some random musings before heading off to the in-laws for turkey.........

Detail Parts: (I have been out of the loop on N scale detail items for a while)

Looking for some amber/yellow rotary beacons for a project.  I ran through my stash of Sunrise ones, and was wondering if any other manufacturer made one similar.

They looked very nice for a non-operating unit.

Also, doing a project with some Union Pacific E-Units and am trying to track down enough of the JnJ trains UP snow shields that go over the winterization hatches.

Does anyone know of a source for these.

Many thanks in advance!

Deluxe Innovations makes an amber beacon that might work. And the sunrise stuff still shows on eBay periodically.

In my opinion the Sunrise beacons are the best non-operating ones. I have used a lot of them on past projects and since they are not readily availble now I have recently been canibalizing them for use on newer projects.

Beacons recently covered here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=27890.0

I haven't had time to verify but that thread led me to believe the Sunrise beacons were still available from their website.

No, Sunrise is not producing anything, and hasn't for a long while. I don't know why he still keeps the "underneath" order pages alive on the server for the search engines to find, but go to the home page and you will discover 1) he is out of the casting business and 2) the page does not link to any product information.

The "update" might have a date in July 2012, but it's been that same message for at least three or four years.

Great - thanks - I forgot about the Atlas ones.

What about the JnJ brass snow shields.  Anyone have any ideas?

Truthfully? I gave up on JnJ a while back and bought a brace of Broadway Limited E8's, which already had 'em. I can't tell you which is harder to find now - the JnJ parts, or the BLI models.  :|
