I think they are generally up, at least enough to put all the weight on the hitch, but probably not cranked up all the way like the other molded options included with trailer models.  So maybe the "down" gear looks better anyway.

Most of the photos I have seen do give the appearance of the landing gear being down.  I'm certainly not an expert in TOFC practices and will not give a nut, right or left to argue my side.   :D

I wish  Athearn used the Micro-Trains method - include both an up and a down landing gear. Pop on as needed. With the Athearn, I have to choose up (+) or down for each trailer. If I want to change, first I have to write Athearn to see if they have the landing gear assembly as a part to order so I can change the landing gear out. Ratzafratz.

Hmm... Kiz says worse
things when I'm in the
room and he's working
on assorted cars...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Spent this weekend working on a Pecos River Brass Niagara that needed some TLC.
I had to get out my mint one to go by as this one needed tender ladders on both ends, engine needed throttle linkages and such as well as front steps to walkway.
Had to do some wire soldering as well.
And had to do some work on the tenders front truck mounting system.
All ladders and pilot steps were from Gold Metal Models.
The steps were a bit too short to reach from the pilot to the walkway so I had to make a couple brass L brackets and solder them to the underside of the walkway, then I could solder the steps to them.
Now that she runs like a swiss watch again, ready to head to my paint shop.

Frank .. I think that is a little steep ...

Do yoa mean the whole helix or just the tad sticking up in the air?

The grade on the spiral in general is about 1.8%. The part that looks like a ski lift isn't the normal grade. The levels are still free to slide up and down the support posts so I raised the end to get at some rail joints I had to redo.

Good weekend seeing everybody down at the Timonium Show, and thanks for visiting the CRHS booth!  (Even though Ed wasn't there about 85% of the time =P....why is he our most requested presence??)

Thanks to a hand-me-down layout from 'The S.', I now have an operational layout for the first time in 8 years, having switched from HO to N during that armchair modeling period.  Looking forward to much work to be done, only foam and track is down, the rest is up to me to figure out what the heck I want to do....my indecisiveness can only hurt in this instance....time to make a decision and stick with it!

    ROFL !
Actually when I got the NJ International Brass T1 I painted it in GG1 Brunswick Green and used buff colored decals as at the time there wasn't any gold leaf decals with the lettering spaced far enough apart to fit the tender.  And I numbered it in the 4000 for GG1's and not the correct 5000 for T1's ----------------- WOOPS ---------------  !
Then after I got my Oriental brass S1 I noticed it used a different shade of Brunswick Green as well as gold leaf lettering, and it was finished in a satin finish where I used high gloss clear.
So I stripped it so I can paint it to match the S1 color and decals, which I now have, also will use a satin finish this time ---  :D

Its also going to be self-etch primed when I prime the Niagara and both will then be painted.

Scott, Love the M-2 and the SD50F's.  You did a really awesome job on the detail, paint and lettering.

Nice work posted this week, as always.

I painted and decaled this bad boy after my trials stripping the original paint.  I used the Train-worx SD70M-2 conversion kit and I am pleased with the results.

Finished a some last details on the SD50F, still need one more handrail.

Thank you,
Mike DeBerg
