SAC simulator

On Fairchild AFB, near Spokane WA, in our "Heritage Park" these set of 4 cars is sitting.

From what I've been able to gather, these were used for KC-135/B-52 simulators back in the SAC days.  Guess it was easier and cheaper for SAC to get a few train sets with everything loaded up in it and have them travel around to various SAC bases.

If anyone knows more, or can think of a way to build these cars in N, would be interested in your thoughts.

I don't know much about them.  I have a book about B52's that has a few photo's of these cars. I remember seeing them as a kid at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth when my dad was working for GD.

One of the cars is an old troop sleeper.. so the MT car ..

the rest could probably be made from some old rivarosi cars ..

Only thing is all the trucks are rollerbearing axles.  And not sure if anyone makes a 3 axle passenger truck with exposed bearing caps.

I knew the shorter car is either a troop sleeper or kitchen car.  As for the others, wasn't too sure what I'd use.

At one time the USAF was planning on placeing an ICBM on a railcar, along with associated launching gear cars.  The old Soviet Union was doing this at the time.  I believe they build one mockup of this system but dropped the plans.

The US was going to place it's Peacekeeper missiles on rail cars.  A test car was built but the project canceled at the end of the Cold War. The Russians actually built and deployed a rail mobile ICBM in the form of the SS-24.  It could be launched at a pre-surveyed point or along the line.  The train could be broken down into three different trains for dispersal.  After the fall of the Soviet Union the trains rarely left their garrison.  And were eventually eliminated under the START treaty six or seven years ago.

I do know a little about the ICBM trains, however I know these cars have no relation to those.

I know these are simulators, however I believe most of the gear has been removed.
