Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  I can't wait to start contributing to the Engineering Report thread.  Unfortunately my boats patrol schedule will prevent me from taking part in the show season this year.  But like I said, I'm going to shore duty so that means I've got three years worth of shows to look forward to.  I might even make it to the NMRA National Convention during that time.

Welcome, J.  Feel free to start your engineering thread now.  You can describe your goals in more detail, and the forum can help you design your track plan.  That way, when February 2013 rolls around, you'll be ready to start.

Figured you were on subs.  I was mostly a surface sailor on smaller craft.  Retired a YNC.  Closest I got to the submarine community was a tour at Naval Reactors in DC way back when Adm Rickover was still there.
