Rare loco.  This GP-39 was working a tie pickup job in Baltimore last weekend.

Ex C&O and I believe the only one on CSX still running.  Maybe even the only one left in active service in the U.S.

Awesome catch, Bob.  I didn't know any GP39s were still out there on CSX.

Surprised me also Dave.  A CSX engineer told me it was working at Benning Yard in DC earlier in the week.  Looks like it has been recently repainted.

I wasnt able to take the train to work this morning because someone tried to beat Amtrak. I arrived just as the gates were coming up and before emergency personal showed up. The guys okay, and the flagmans shack was hoisted back onto its foundation.

if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

Caught a couple things today that are out of the norm (at least from what I usually see).

First was the CSX loco.  I think I've seen a couple those in the last three years.  Second is the Autorack cars.  We don't get much of those either.  Finally, at 1:38, something I may never catch in a train again.

I see dozens of them every time I go out railfanning. Then there's those crazy conspiracy folks that would have you believe they're "ventilated" prison cars to take you away to the death camps when the UN takes over the United States...  :? I don't know where they come up with this crap.
