N Scale Structure Studios announced their Chicago Style Fire Dept Front.  It is meant to replace the front of DPM Crestone Credit Union building.

Inspired by the home of Ladder 103 in the Windy City, this is a close copy of the actualy engine house built in 1927 and still in use today.

That is a great idea but for the life of me I can't figure out why people don't spend some extra time making the master patterns for their kits. After all, they are trying to make an item for sale. The FIRE DEPT lettering looks like it was haphazardly applied by a 7-year old kid.  I don't get it. It is not *THAT* much more difficult to do it right and make the letters even. I would have probably taken another 15 minutes of their time.

I agree, a little more attention to detail and they got a winning idea on their hands. They call it a kit, so I wonder if the letters are added by the modeler, probably not. I think the firehouse is cool, so I'll bite.
Never argue with idiots; they'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

The garage door windows don't look so hot either. Do you have to cut the openings yourself?

So, they were "inspired by" the building, but not inspired enough to actually match any of the details of the building? Sheesh.
