Questions on RTTX rebuilds

I am curious about the RTTX rebuilds, especially the ACF cars that MTL produces.
 1. Is the middle hitch always towards the non brake jack end?
 2. Are the end hitches colapsable, or just the center hitch?
I think I found the answer: 604XXX series had no container pedistals and therefore did not need colapsable end hitches, while the 970-973XXX series do have flip-up container pedistals and would require colapsable end hitches. Does this sound right?
 3. On the Patch-job rebuilds, was the deck painted gray or yellow? Did the deck area around the hitches get painted orange like on the BLMA cars?

Most of my MTL TOFC cars are being rebuilt with new MLE hitches, BLMA trucks and body mount couplers. I am preserving as much of the paint as possible to avoid tedious decaling, and create the patch-job look of the prototype. I hope to write this up for N-Scale.

You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure

Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Well, as Skibbe once reminded me, once an all-purpose car, always an all-purpose car:

Don't forget your MTL flats can also be converted to TTWX "Twin 45" cars.
