Another BLMA reefer run announced...

Anyone check out the latest Model Railroad Hobbiest? BLMA has an announcement for CEFX reefers with Thermo-King reefers. Very cool additions! I've got one reserved with my local pusher. However, this should excite some other people as well...

* Thermo-King reefers have not been done before. And they are used on alot of reefer trailers.

* BNSF has been getting them installed on their big Trin-Cools as well. It looks like they are swapping the Carriers out as they fail.

* Thermo-King's are also installed on the reefers in use for Cryo-Trans service. Those are completely different cars from the BNSF/UP/Tropicana cars.

Kudo's to BLMA for another unique model and opening the door further to the BNSF reefers.. :-)

The CEFX cars also have the correct door... which opens up the door for more UP lots as well

Nice, going to get a few, I see this all the time.

Now, how about some Tropicana cars, 24 or so will do for the first run. :D

The whit 3000 series with the external reefer unit.

The industry is trying to keep the CSX modeler's down and depressed, so do the BNSF ones first eh?

And then just paint them for Tropicana  :P  :ashat:

Excellent!  I've never seen one of these cars in person, but I am a sucker for (exquisitely detailed) plain jane modern and will be getting some.

The TK tooled up pretty nice.  Looks like all of the tiny control panel relief is present.

One other thing:  anyone have any thoughts on what it would take to stretch one (or even two) of these into the 82' BNSF version?   It looks like the Microscale decal set 60-1235 would work for that.

Unless perhaps Craig would recommend that we be patient?  (Mr Wallet is crossing his fingers again)  ;) ;) ;)

As someone who picked up 3 of the ARMN run and regretted the small number immediately upon opening the box, I'm so excited about these.  The models are the finest representation I've seen of what manufacturers can do with N scale rolling stock in the the modern day.

Here's a grab shot from April 2011 of a string of CEFX reefers outside warehouse in Tulare, CA:

Dropped by the BNSF yard in Bakersfield Sunday and noted that pretty much all the BNSF Iceburgs were sporting Thermo-Kings now.

Looks like Carrier is just another era specific spotting feature..
