From Kato "A sneak peak at the new Amtrak Vb Paintscheme"
http://twitter.com/#!/KatoUSAInc/status/119842084822851584/photo/1/large
Not sure what to make of this - is Vb a different color blue? I thought the only differences had something to do with the red striping and the bottom gray band...

Yes...I've only seen a few units but the blue is less "electric" and more of a deep blue as shown.

Here are two shots of AMTK 161 in Phase Vb paint taken a week apart:

Which one is correct?

Obviously both are wrong! How could Amtrak do this? Never buying another one of their models.
But seriously, both are Vb - no small "amtrak logo" near the cab, and no gray band.
Blue is a lighting issue.
I think....

Not sure what to make of it. The complete album for AMTK 161 shows a number of variations in regards to the blue in a number of different shots, likely caused by the type of film (if any is used) or digital camera.

The differences in the shot of AMTK 23 and AMTK 161 can easily be explained by the weathering on 23... if it was cleaner it could make a difference in how it looks, as could when it was painted into the scheme last.
