I looked through Archer's website and can not find any N scale tread plate. Other than GMM etched plate, are there any other sources?

Hi Daniel,

What type of treadplate are you trying to replicate?
If by chance it is first generation GMDD/EMD you might want to look at spraying paint through the smallest of the K+S etched mesh.  The part number escapes me but I have found the resulting pattern to be decent enough. I cleaned the mesh in a pot of isopropyl alcohol immediately after spraying. Sometimes you have to scrub it with a stencil-type brush to get the holes to clear.

Andrew thats a good idea. I'll have to try it.

The tread is for a fire apparatus project I am working on.

In that case, have you looked at Details Associates large HO scale ALCo drop steps? They are much finer than any of the other brass etchings I have sampled and, crucially, they might actually be large enough for  for what you are doing. Unfortunately they are too small to be of much use in everyday N scale diesel detailing.

Cheers,
