Bachmann Spectrum Consolidation Tender Shell Removal

I want to remove the shell on this tender but do not see any way to do it. I don't want to start prying around the shell. I am sure someone on this forum has the answer.

Bill, the shell is the reverse of what you'd expect...  The top sits inside the base.  I think you have to unscrew the trucks to release the top.  If I remember correctly, you can put a jewelers file in the slot in the front and pop up the coal bunker/water hatch up and out.

It really depends which version. The DC spectrum tenders that originally came with the 2-8-0 are as Lee described and you need to remove the trucks first, as those screws hold the coal load and water tank top in. The DCC and DCC ready replacement tenders are pretty conventional and the tender shell just lifts off of the frame.
