I just hope "interesting" doesn't mean more trackside shanties, but something of substance.
In many ways, N scale modelers and HO sale modelers are wholly different markets. Sure, we both like trains, but given N scale's size, larger industries and longer trains are two benefits we enjoy over our HO counterparts. Yet, whenever I've heard of a Walthers representative commenting on when N scale will see a significant amount of the line of Walthers structure kits, the response is that sales need to be proven in HO scale before an N scale version will be considered? Do you consider how good an apple will taste by squeezing the oranges? N scalers have different needs than HO modelers and are sorely lacking the large industries and industry component kits we could use on our layouts (at a reasonable price). When will Walthers be ready to take my money, by meeting the demands of the N scale market?
Totally agree with your assessment of the differences (and advantages) of N vs. HO. Don’t know who you talked to in the past, but today at Wm. K. Walthers there is no connection between the success of an HO Cornerstone building and the decision to make the same or similar model in N. Or vice versa for that matter! In fact you will soon see some interesting N Cornerstone buildings that have no HO counterparts. Stay tuned!
I guess I really made an impression because in 2010 all the staff was gathered around this! : I just walked away.Best wishes, Dave
I am going to see the glass half full here.
Hopefully Walthers will look at the best new products and choose to make structures that compliment what we are already buying. State of the art spine cars, modern reefers, pig flats, auto parts boxes and others have been recently released without complimentary structures/equipment available. Making a structure to sell theme related locos/cars has been a staple in HO but has not translated well to N. Concentrating on the merits of the Cornerstone brand by making products that make dimensional sense for HCD layouts but are expandable to fit larger layout spaces for those lucky enough to have bigger 'footprints' available for industries.
They were like that in 2011 (Atlanta). However they added some good-looking girl about my age (probably 18-21) playing with that same set-up
