Wow, Gary, those decal stripes worked out great -- way better than paints or markers.  How long does it take to do?  Seems to me it shouldn't be any worse than painting by hand.

Ed, working assembly line fashion, 3 or 4 at a time, they take me about half an hour each.  This includes the black customs seals, the silver lock rods/handles, and misc. placards etc.  The trickiest part is to get the lock rods stripes to lay down symmetrically; this can take a bit of coaxing with a brush while the Micro Sol is working.  But the results are really worth it, to me at least.

The stripe sizes I used are given here:

Hope this helps,
Gary

P.S. The containers are N scale, even though the decal stripes are mostly HO.

Thanks to your pics, I've done something similar (not better). Do you like them? The last on the ground is "like new" to be compared with others.

Hi Sergio, those look really good!  The patches and the variety in the fades work out quite well, as does the peeling "EVERGREEN" lettering.   About the only thing I can think of is to add some more rust to the corners, since those tend to show a lot of wear, and maybe thin/fade the 'tails' on some of the vertical rust streaks.

Very nice work!
