I haven't been there in a couple of years .. but I don't remember no fence there that was so tall that you couldn't shoot a decent pic .. if you set up right about where the crane is, you could do the same pic ..

I'm pretty sure it is easy to get to that area from the parking lot at the station.  There is a monument to John Brown there, and as i recall, the fence is just to prevent people from falling down the big incline.

I don't think that crane shot would work John . It looks like he is over the north rail facing east , and far enough east to clear the trees on the left of the track . I believe he was on the track , but who he works for is up in the air .

I've been there many time,a the most recent 1 1/2 years ago.
I've never had a problem getting to that spot,even with a stroller.
I just walked in from the station area.
