I was leaving Morehead City yesterday when I heard a horn off to the west.  Since I knew the train had already been to the port, I figured it was heading back to New Bern, and I decided to try to get some photos with street running.

New Bern:

The train in question is waiting for the Trent River bridge to finish closing


And then heading over


Here is the street running I've wanted to capture for some time now















The ties are in the process of being replaced on the old Norfolk Southern (now modern Norfolk Southern) line between Chocowinity, NC and New Bern, NC.  I managed to shoot a couple of the machines:






After that I continued north to see what is in the yard at Chocowinity, where I found something of interest to the Conrail Queens:








Back in the yard in New Bern is what I am guessing to be quarters for the MOW gang that's replacing ties:

Cool sequence!  You are redeemed for at least one stupid music video post.  Like that long hood forward on the street trackage.

It must do the founder of the old NS proud to know that his railroad now reaches Chicago.
