Leo, please come out to the DC area so I can be on one of these videos...I can do a little weathering tutorial and can plug my upcoming book... ;)

Rule #1, if you don't e-mail it to nscale@realityreduced.com it won't happen.  I travel a medium amount for work, and they are very flexable about me staying over weekends and such on my own hotel dime to do what I want.  HQ is near SFO, which is how I visit Chuck so much.  I'll put you on my list, and if I come there I love to meet new people.

Suggestion #1, you don't need me to come there.  If anyone wants to make a video segment I can do most of the work for you.  I will talk to you on the phone about how to record, borrow a camcorder from a friend or whatever.  You can then just mail me the tape and I'll do all the editing for you, no effort on your part required.  Of course, if you want to, or can do more that's great.  I want more people to contribute, and if you're even remotely interested see Rule #1. :)

Leo,

This was your best show so far!! I really enjoyed it..........even that little
blooper at the end.  ;D ;D
And speaking of the end I was wondering if you could post some closeup
shots of the new McHenry couplers. I haven't seen them yet and am quite
interested in them.

Keep up the good work Leo,
Jon

I want to do a lot more on them.  I'm very interested in this development as I think coupler technology is lacking.  I will be using the two I got for free for some video.  I'm hoping to get some more and do a lot of video.

I'm not going to kid you, Macro video is harder than macro photography.  I also don't have a good switching layout with uncoupling magnets to do a full test.

Athearn seemed fairly interested in my podcast.  It would actually help if you could go to http://www.athearn.com/About/Contact.aspx and tell Athearn you want to see more of their products on Reality Reduced, more info on the McHenry couplers, etc.  Even if they aren't a sponsor, if they can share more product samples and their own video it would help.  There are deals we can strike, and your interest can help us strike them.

An updated link: http://blip.tv/file/1072215

The first one had an audio issue and a blooper, as soon as the link in this post is up I will kill the first one.  Apologies for the bad content, returning from a show and getting sick made it hard to get an episode out on time!

Leo,

Here's an idea for you.  I know you were disappointed with the quality of the footage filmed by the flatcar-mounted camera.  While I wouldn't know the first thing about improving the signal, I think you could at least improve the composition of the shot, if the camera were mounted such that it pivoted with the trucks.  That way, just like truck-mounted couplers, the camera's view would stay on line with the center of the track and not necessarily just provide close-ups of the side of a tunnel or a cut in curved trackwork.

Otherwise, thanks for making these shows.  Keep 'em coming.

Been there done that on a single car setup and a double car setup . I have a video program , in fact 2 programs loaded into the 'puter  , but no layout or time to go further than the cars themselves .

Richie,

I said it was a good idea, not an original idea.   ;)  Actually, what you've done is exactly what I was thinking.
