Ok, so a friend of mine recently lent me some money, and I wanted to give him something as a "Thank you" for helping me and wifey, so I offered him a custom freight car as "interest" on the loan. Here, I'll show you what I'm doing and in many cases, how it's done.
On to the model:
I'm modelling a cement hopper that has been in a derailment. I chose a cement hopper because my friend is in the concrete business. The car is a GACX leasing car from Walthers.
Once derailed, the car wasn't able to be moved on its own, so it will be placed on a flat car. (Also a Walthers kit) with a real (Laser cut wood) deck.
Once I'm finished, the cement car will be derailed, damaged and weathered, and the flat car will be weathered and the deck aged. The Cement car will then be secured to the flat car and braced. Stay tuned for updates and a "step by step". It may take some time, however, as I am in the process of getting a new job. I won't say with who yet, but here's a hint...
