Knowing MT they will probably do some fantasy thing with it like
maybe a MOW car for their new set. But lets hope we get something
like the photo below for starters.

The tank car history link in the railwire links section suggests these appeared in the late 1920s. Anyone know when they were removed from service? Specifically the MT proto, which appears to be the SHPX one above.

Hopefully no Gabriel Hi-Jackers on this car ...

My 1960 ORER shows these cars still in service, numbered in the series SHPX 12 - 195.

ACFX 84 , nee SHPX 84, was still in service from Sylvachem Corp. in Port St. Joe, FL, in the 1980's. It was shipped to their distributor in Newark, NJ, loaded with Tall Oil Fatty Acid, Tall Oil Blend, and Distilled Tall Oil. The RF&P wrecked it at Acca Yard in Richmond and ACF Industries was unable to replace it. It would have cost more than the residual value owed by RF&P to repair it. CSXT merged the RF&P into it in '87 or '88, so it was prior to that year.

I've seen some photos of tank cars without domes.  Anyone got any info or photos or these and what they carried.

You know it's nice to get a three dome tank car but....................they should have retooled
the damn stirrups and ladders to make them much finer in appearance.  >:( I would say that
they took the cheaper route and used existing parts and only retooled the body. I'm not saying
thats a bad thing just think they missed an opportunity here to make a really fine model. Even so I will
have to own a few as long as they do something that is prototypically right!! This would be a
good time for them to do something prototypical to win back some of us that have moved on
too better products from other manufacturers.
OK, I'm down off the soap box flame away!!! ;D ;D
