Just got the October issue of Trains, Great article on the Florida East Coast. How did I not pay attention to this little gem before??
You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

Indeed.

The FEC rocks.

Both past and present.

If only modeling the expanses of Florida were doable, I'd be in it... but the 55mph racetrack is tough in an apartment.

I enjoyed the FEC article in Trains. It was interesting to see how a railroad like that thrives in it's unique market. It was especially interesting about how they want to invest in another railroads infrastructure in order to help themselves.

FEC is preaty cool, I see one or two trains almost every day since I live fairly close to the Ft Lauderdale intermodal yard. Since MT release the ortner hoppers, it has been fairly easy to modell modern FEC, since all you need is a bunch of them and a bunch of 89 TOFC cars and autoracks. For locos you need a few GP40, GP40-2 in blue and a few UP color SD40-2. All that needed is for Kato to produce an SD70M-2 and its all good to go.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

I have a few CSX and other GP40-2`s. It`s tempting...

I think the main allure of the FEC is the fact that it's still semi independent in this era of giants.

That's what attracted me to the WM in the early days.
