Model RR clubs / LHS's in Munich, Germany?

I'm here in Munich, Germany, on a business trip.

Any suggestions for good local Model RR clubs / LHS's / railfanning to visit here or within reachable distance from here?

I'm free Thurs evening 4/19, anytime Friday 4/20, or daytime Saturday 4/21.

No trains in the Hoffbrau Haus, but a great place to visit.  Also, there is a science museum there that is very interesting and I believe that you will find a steam engine there.  Its been years since I've been to Munich.  Have a great time.

I want to thank all of you who sent me feedback, it's very much appreciated.

It's 6pm in Munich, just got back from the Deutsche Museum. As Alan Bradley said, the
Model Eisenbahn in the Deutsche Museum was well worth seeing, and the Deutsche Museum as a whole is superb as well.

There is a fair amount of info for me to sift thru, I'll see what I can do this evening/tomorrow; will post a trip report and a couple of photos after I get back.

Hi, all,

Just want to let you know that the Deutsche Bahn Museum in Nurmberg, Germany was very well worth the 1 hour ICE train trip up there to see it - and very short walking distance from the central train station as well.  Here's a few photos from their collection of custom 1/10 scale models.  Although I don't know for sure (my bad German), I think these are custom-made models.  In any event, they represent over 100 years of German railroading.

What is amazing is that each hand-made model is superbly detailed inside, outside,
including undercarriage:












I'll post a few more pictures, on various other displays and model RR at this museum, after I process them.

From Atlas N scale forum, Karl Schotter lets us know how these DB Museum 1/10 scale models came to be: 

"These models were made by young railroad mechanics during their apprenticeship as part
of their development. This way, they learned to know construction and function of the
rolling stock thoroughly, and at the same time they learned to handle all different
materials and machinery.

They always were made when their prototypes were just new and state of art, so they
are remains of former technical education and were not originally intended as records
of historical technology. But surely, they are of exceptional historical interest
today."

I think these models  are a truly remarkable example of German technical education,
skill and training.

I wish to very much express my thanks to Carsten Ramcke of http://www.greateventtours.com , for giving me the info that got me to the Deutsche Bahn Museum in Nurmberg, Germany. His information in response to my original post was just stellar.

Carsten, who lives in Michigan, is a excellent German speaking railfan/modeller in addition to running the excellent tours on his web site above. If you are interested in going to Germany/Switzerland on a tour and seeing both real railroads and model railroads, Carsten is your man.
