This week, three photos of Long Island Rail Road trains of Multiple Unit cars. The MP72's in the first photo were brand new when the photo was taken, but are now retired. The second is on LIRR's unique "doubledeckers", built in the late 1940's, and the third is of MP54's reposing overnight at the Hempstead, NY, station. All were taken in the 1950's.

Next week, a bunch of "one-offs" - SP, A&LM, Strasburg and Chattanooga Incline.

Missouri Pacific 2200 Class 4-8-4 #2214 at Jefferson City, Missouri on June 30, 1951.  These huge steam locomotives have a look that just radiates power.  Always a favorite of mine.

Another view of Missouri Pacific 2200 Class 4-8-4 #2214 at Jefferson City, Missouri on the same June 30, 1951 day.

An unusual convergence at Toledo's Union Central Terminal 4/25/81.  Toledo was (probably still is) a great place to shoot trains.  Not as many as Chicago but everything was so accessible.  If you didn't come back with 3 or 4 rolls of burned film after a day of railfanning you weren't trying very hard.  Some day there has to be a Morning Sun  "Trackside at Toledo" book.

In New South Wales, there are a few small pockets of manual and automatic sempahore signalling still in use on the main interstate link between Melbourne and Sydney. Most of these will be replaced by June this year.

Those are beautiful shots Wes.  Perfect lighting highlights the semaphores.  Thanks
