Winchester & Western question...

In Havelock, Ontario, on CP's Kawartha Lakes Railway (internal shortline) I often see a few Winchester & Western 2 bay covered hoppers in the yard or going up the spur to the Unimin nepheline syenite mine. WW 7071 was there May 22 and September 4, 2006. Are these in captive serivce and who's the shipper on the WW? Thanks.

Unimim also has a facility in southern New Jersey. Sand from Dividing Creek area, hauled out on the Winchester & Westerns New Jersey line. Railrroad centered in Bridgeton, NJ. Motie power is mostly ex-N&W, NKP GP's that have been overhauled in theri shop and had the noses lowered. Very nice operation, almost conveyor belt like. Have to ask a few friends that work there if they know what commodity those cars handle, but it seems to me those numbers are sand hauling hoppers. Robbman could be correct that they are being rented out, maybe the lining have gone bad. lv4142003

Thanks for the response, guy's. Would seem likely they are in captive use for the Unimin nepheline operation.

So do the cylindrical covered hoppers wearing the "Indusmin" name operate on WW as well, or is that only for their Canadian operations?
