Probably my last visit to Kern Jct (Bakersfield, Ca)...before the tower was torn down the following year.

Well I got there just in time, they were coupling up to move it





The guy (brakeman) who I asked to take the photos said this car was re-furbished somewhere near Youngstown and was being shipped to Pittsburgh, he said they get about one a month (re-built hot metal car) This is one I saw a while back


Just though it was odd, even though they were less than a 1/2 mile from a blast furnace.
