Title: September/October N-Scale Magazine
Post by: Pamela Clapp on June 08, 2022, 01:07:24 PM
THE LEWISTOWN SERIES - Part 5
Streets, Roads, Alleys, and a Corner Module by Dan Lewis, MMR

Don't miss out. We are working on the September/October issue of N-Scale Magazine and you are going to love what you see. Dan Lewis will be detailing how to make realistic asphalt streets and roads, sidewalks, curbs and driveway entrances, street intersections, dirt roads, grade crossings, alleys and more. He details how to create a corner module, piece by piece. I hope you will join us and share in the fun. You can subscribe at www.nscalemagazine.com for a print or digital subscription, or both.
With fuel prices at an all time high, I think most of us are staying home and working on projects to enhance our layouts. This is a definite must see.

Celebrating 37 years in publishing today, June 17th, where my job as a secretary just began. I remember it was a Monday, 8 days before my birthday and I was thinking to myself, I should have waited another week to start after my birthday lol. But, I couldn't wait to get started.  I moved up the ladder, learning everything I could and held each position in the company. I went on to purchase N-Scale Magazine 21 years later in 2006, and I am proud to say, still going strong. I am so pleased to be the publisher of N-Scale Magazine and I couldn't have done it all of these years without all of you. Thank you.

Recently, we've had some hobby shops cancel their orders due to lack in sales. Please support your local hobby shop. We need to keep them around for years to come. And, if you haven't sent in your renewal or new subscription, please get them mailed in. Labels are processed early so the magazine can ship on the 1st of the month and you don't want to miss an issue. Thank you so much.

Please support your local hobby shop and the advertisers in N-Scale Magazine, and let the advertisers know you saw their ad in N-Scale Magazine. It is very slow right now and we want to make sure they all get through these difficult times.

Pamela, I was a subscriber a couple years ago. But I dropped my sub after seeing a couple layouts in N-Scale that made me cringe. One had the most gawd-awful homemade signals I'd ever seen in nearly 45 years in the hobby. And another layout made the front cover which was made with prefab, pre-"ballasted" track, probably Kato, of which no amount of work can hide the poor look.

N-Scale mag used to feature more fastidious modeling that raised the bar for N scalers. Maybe it needs to return to that?

I hope you will take another look. There are so many amazing layouts. The latest series featured by Dan Lewis is outstanding - Designing a Townsite. You can see his work on the front cover of the September/October issue - www.nscalemagazine.com  There are too many to list. I know you will love what you see.

Agreed!

I felt this same way for a while but the past year has been MUCH better.

Also, we need to remember, Pam can only publish what's sent in. Be the change you want to see in the world. Speaking of, @Pamela Clapp , I think you owe me an email.

I've been thinking the same thing. Pam can only print what is submitted, so if you have something that you want published, send it in. I remember the article about the signals that was mentioned and I just thought that's not how I would do it because it's too clunky. I've got the last three issues and series and the Lewiston series is amazing. I want to get the past issues with the rest of the article.
