Title: New Atlas Code 55 Magnetic control from Keystone Details
Post by: Lemosteam on March 02, 2021, 08:46:33 PM
Keystone Details is now offering manual magnetic turnout controls that can be wired to flip the frog polarity.

The four pack of magnetic switch control parts helps make manual switching of the Atlas Code 55 turnouts a breeze. Requires two magnet sizes (see link below) , Tichy 0.010" phosphor bronze wire, and some miniature patience well know by N Scale modelers. Requires an 18mm x 18mm x 10mm deep pocket under the turnout to function. Eight pneumatic switch machines (4 left, 4 right) are also included and can be planted or used to push/pull the points in either direction.

This control can also be used to switch polarity of the frog on the atlas switches if the wire is used. Instructions to install on the turnout will appear here soon: https://photos.app.goo.gl/vWXLNpDrVPsjBfnL8 (https://photos.app.goo.gl/vWXLNpDrVPsjBfnL8)

Not included are the two 3mm dia x 1.5mm long or 1.5mm dia x 6mm long rare earth magnets per turnout required to finish the actuator. 3mm dia magnets can be found here or here. 1.5 dia magnets can be f9ound here. Tichy wire can be found here.

Also see a quick video of the control in hand operation:

John, maybe you should consider adding "Atlas" to the title of this thread.  Peco also makes c55 track.  Yeah, I know, it is not "true" c55, and the turnouts have sprung switch, but still for the sake of clarity . . .

Now you know why I abbreviate to KD.  the title will get cut off.

What I mean is that the field for the title only allows so many characters.  I mostly view on my computer screen too.

Look at the subject line of this reply. 80 characters. I could have gone even further.  Actually 80 is the limit.

Can you show an installed and wired up version?   Very curious on this method.

I first thought KD referred to the old Kadee predecessor to Micro Trains.

Yes, KD had me confused too. John doesn't want to overflow the subject line when when fully spelling the Keystone Details name, but since the subject line can be up to 80 characters, I don't think that fully spelling the name will be a problem in most cases.

I associate KD with the CNW KD (Kenosha District) line.  On a related note, most of it has been "cutoff"

I takes me to John's photos.

It works correctly fro me too (and I'm even logged into my Gmail account (well all of Google I guess). It even shows that I'm logged in as myself, while it displays John's album.  Computers are just getting too squirrely (especially Google).
