Title: Help! Traction tires for Atlas 4-4-0
Post by: JohnnyB on September 01, 2019, 01:11:35 PM
I have an Atlas 4-4-0 and one  traction tire is getting loose. How do I fix it? Where can I get a new tire? Or is Bull Frog Snot the way to go?

Thanks

JG

I have used BFS to replace the traction tires on one of my Bachmann steam locos and have not had to replace it in over 2 years of running it and on the plus side, it enabled the loco to pull 2 more cars than with the traction tires that were on it.

I am sure others will chime in on this with their pros and cons.

If you want to keep it "stock" I would try calling Atlas directly at 908-687-0880 on Tuesday.

I assume it this loco: http://download.atlasrr.com/pdf/PartsPDFs/n440loco.pdf

That’s a great place to start! Call Atlas.  Thanks for the diagram.

If you have an orthodontist near by ask him for a couple braces rubber bands , I have used these in the past as there are different sizes. And they have natural color unles you want neons and the like.
