Built in the late sixties and early seventies, the Gunderson 5200 is a classic-looking boxcar with modern appeal. Constructed near the end of the internal post, double sheathed box car era, the straight sill and centered YSD 8ft doors lends themselves to clean modern symmetry on a car with vintage aesthetics. Faithful to the prototype, ExactRail reproduces the Gunderson 5200 with accurate 4/4 corrugated ends, non-overhanging roof, notched sill, and double 8' doors.

In HO also.  The HO blurb confirms those three roads having this prototype.

Well, the B&O cars ain't kosher.  The M-73 class (475500-475624) was just old 40' cars stretched 10'.

Still, this looks like a good car for kitbashing fodder.  And GM&O is a nice touch--you don't see that road name very often.

On the Atlas boards, the HO modelers are saying the car is exact for SP, the roof is wrong for SP&S and BN, and the other cars are not prototypical.

I'll pick up a BN for my Conrail era - more variety in modern times which is good.

The L&N nUmbers they showed are good for 50" PS! Double doors. Might still grab one.

I don't know.  I Googled "Gunderson 5200" to see if I could find which roads had the prototype and the thread came up in the search.  But they were complaining about the SP-centric aspect and that only three of the six roads listed actually had them.

Bravo on more variety!  But too bad it's a car that doesn't seem to have lasted into the current day in service - at least I can't find any SP ones - although it seems hard to believe some of them didn't make their way to other places.

They release this yet they do nothing about the 4000' Covered Hopper that have plenty of prototypical names for. Well, we know what the company officers model. Hope the car does well so we can get the 4000's done.
